Browse all UK propertiesPembrokeshire is Wales at its most wild and beautiful — a National Park of staggering coastal diversity, from the vast sandy beaches of Tenby and Barafundle Bay to the dramatic sea cliffs of St Davids Head. Large group accommodation in Pembrokeshire puts your party at the edge of one of the UK's most spectacular and unspoiled coastlines, with world-class outdoor adventures, extraordinary wildlife, and some of Wales's finest seafood restaurants all within easy reach.
Pembrokeshire's 186-mile coastal path — completed in 1970 as one of Britain's first long-distance paths — passes over dramatic sea cliffs, through hidden coves, across ancient promontory forts, and along beaches that rival the Mediterranean in summer. For groups, the variety of accessible walking, from gentle family-friendly sections to demanding clifftop challenges, means there is always a suitable coastal route whatever your group's fitness level. The scenery along the entire path is genuinely world-class: crashing Atlantic waves, cliff-nesting guillemots and razorbills, porpoises visible from headlands, and seals hauling out on sea-level beaches.
The combination of outdoor adventure and excellent food makes Pembrokeshire particularly appealing to groups who want more than a beach holiday. St Davids — the UK's smallest city, centred on its magnificent Norman cathedral — has developed a remarkable dining scene for a place of its size. Tenby, with its medieval walled town, pastel-painted Georgian houses, and four surrounding beaches, is one of Wales's most photogenic destinations. The harbour towns of Fishguard, Newport, and Porthgain each have exceptional gastropubs and seafood restaurants.
Barafundle Bay — accessible only on foot across a half-mile clifftop path from Stackpole Quay — is consistently rated one of Britain's most beautiful beaches, with turquoise water and pristine sand enclosed by sandstone cliffs. Broad Haven South (adjacent to Barafundle) is another National Trust gem. The surf beaches of Freshwater West and Newgale are Pembrokeshire's finest for surfing and bodyboarding, with consistent Atlantic swells. Whitesands Bay near St Davids faces directly west into the Celtic Sea and catches excellent waves with a dramatic headland backdrop.
Pembrokeshire invented coasteering — the adrenaline sport of scrambling, swimming, and cliff-jumping along rocky sea cliffs with a guide. Multiple operators offer group coasteering sessions around St Davids Head and Strumble Head. Sea kayaking along the coast allows groups to explore sea caves, tidal races, and seal colonies inaccessible on foot. Preseli Hills (the source of Stonehenge's bluestones) rise immediately inland and provide excellent walking with extraordinary 360-degree views.
Pembrokeshire's seas and cliffs support extraordinary wildlife easily visible from shore. Ramsey Island (boat trips from St Justinians) hosts one of the UK's largest grey seal colonies and a spectacular chough population. Skomer Island (ferry from Martin's Haven) is one of Europe's most important seabird sites — in May and June, over 350,000 Manx shearwaters nest in burrows across the island, and puffins nest in cliff-top burrows within metres of the coastal path. Dolphins and porpoises are regularly sighted from headlands around St Davids Head, and minke whales occasionally feed in the offshore waters. The Pembrokeshire Marine Special Area of Conservation is one of the UK's most protected marine environments.
The Shed in Porthgain — a famous seafood bistro in a converted industrial building overlooking the tiny harbour — is Pembrokeshire's most celebrated restaurant, booking up weeks in advance in summer. Cwtsh in St Davids uses exceptional local produce with modern flair. Fresh Pembrokeshire lobster, crab, and bass are available directly from quayside fishermen in season. The nearby Gower Peninsula's Gower salt marsh lamb is also widely available and outstanding. For groups who prefer eating in, a private chef using local coastal ingredients in a farmhouse kitchen creates a memorable evening.
Pembrokeshire is outstanding for active hen parties, walking and cycling groups, surfing groups, wildlife enthusiasts, and families seeking a spectacular beach holiday with activities for all ages. The combination of dramatic outdoor adventure by day and excellent local food and drink by evening creates a complete group experience. The relative remoteness — and the genuine wildness of the coast — gives group stays here a quality of escape that polished urban destinations simply cannot match.
Pembrokeshire's neighbouring Welsh coast includes the beautiful Gower Peninsula (1 hour east) and the Ceredigion coast including Aberystwyth (1.5 hours north-east). Cardiff is 2 hours east and makes a good arrival/departure city for groups travelling by train.
