Match the Location to Your Plans

If your plans centre on Windermere, compare the route from the house to your chosen lakeside departure point or attraction. Windermere town and Bowness-on-Windermere are different places: the railway station is in Windermere, while Bowness is beside the lake. For a Keswick, Ullswater or western Lakes itinerary, plan around that area rather than assuming all parts of the Lakes are a short journey apart.

Check the House Layout for Your Whole Group

Agree which outings everyone wants to share and which can be optional. Check current opening times, group booking arrangements and transport for any lake cruise, attraction or activity. Choose walking routes to suit the participants and current conditions rather than relying on a fixed completion time. Keep an indoor alternative in the plan.
