Games Houses
A games house is a different search from a house that happens to have a games room. One is a category; the other is a checkbox. If you only need the amenity filter, use houses with games rooms. This page is for groups where the games provision is the actual reason for the booking.
The distinction matters more than it sounds. A pool table in a cold garage gets used once, politely, on the first evening. A games room that sits off the kitchen — heated, lit properly, close enough that nobody feels exiled from the conversation — is where the entire weekend ends up happening. The itinerary a group plans and the weekend it actually has are rarely the same thing.
What Makes a House a Games House
The honest test is whether the games survive a wet Saturday. Rain is the default condition of a UK group weekend, and the house either absorbs it or the group ends up scrolling on their phones in separate rooms. Pool tables and table tennis do the heavy lifting; a cinema room catches the tired end of the evening; a sound system decides whether the kitchen becomes the bar.
The second test is capacity. A single pool table occupies four people and spectates another six. Beyond that you need a second focal point — table tennis, a card table, a cinema room, an outdoor space that works after dark. The houses that genuinely earn the description run two or three of these at once, which is why a games house tends to also be a good party house.

Games House or Party House?
They overlap, but they are not the same booking. A party house is organised around a big night — the sound system, the open-plan space, the kitchen that can serve thirty. A games house is organised around the hours either side of it: the afternoon everyone arrives, the Sunday morning nobody wants to leave. Who Books a Games House
Stag and hen groups book them for the obvious reason. But the bookings that surprise people are the family ones — a games room is the only reliable way to keep teenagers and grandparents in the same building voluntarily.
