About McArthur Manor
McArthur Manor is not a typical holiday home where you are handed a big house and left to work everything out for yourselves. We look after one group at a time, and the idea is simple: bring everyone together, take over the Manor, and have everything you need for the trip in one place.
There are 16 en-suite bedrooms, with up to 28 separate beds depending on how we set the rooms up. You have your own private pub, two dining rooms, lounge, games room and a huge 140sqm Pavilion which can be a meeting room in the morning, activity space in the afternoon then somewhere energetic and exciting in the evening.
Then there is all the equipment already here. Pool, table tennis, poker, beer pong, karaoke, a 150” screen, games, outdoor activities and plenty of slightly less sensible things such as sumo suits. The point is that you do not need to hire half a dozen suppliers simply to keep everyone entertained.
And you get proper time in a Georgian Manor house designed for large groups to have fun.
Check-in is from 12 noon and checkout is 4pm.
For a one-night stay, that gives you 28 hours at the Manor. A lot of large houses will let you in at 3pm and want you gone again by 11am the following morning... We have never particularly liked that. Getting 20 or 30 people together takes enough effort, so when you arrive here we want you to actually have time to enjoy the place.
What you have at the Manor - Your booking gives your group exclusive use of the property, including:
16 bedrooms, all with their own en-suite bathroom
Up to 28 separate beds depending on your room setup
Private pub with three beer taps, to stock with your own drinks, and buy kegs from us
140sqm Pavilion for meetings, activities, banquet dinners and entertainment
Two dining rooms
Large lounge
150” screen and projector
Karaoke and sound equipment
Pool and table tennis
Poker and beer pong
Giant chess, cornhole, croquet, badminton and other garden games
Sumo suits and plenty of other equipment to get competitive with
Private garden, courtyard and terrace
Wi-Fi coverage throughout the house
Parking on site for 28 cars
Electric vehicle charging
12pm check-in
4pm checkout
We also have a housekeeper come through the communal areas in the morning. So if the evening before was a lively one, you do not have to wake up and spend the first hour collecting glasses and trying to remember who thought moving all the furniture was a good idea.
Your own pub — and yes, you can bring your own drinks. The pub is yours while you are here. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and use the bar yourselves. If you would rather enjoy the bar than operate it, we can also provide staff to serve drinks, pull pints and make cocktails for you.
We can arrange beer kegs for the taps, wine, welcome drinks, cocktails and pretty much anything in between.
The same applies to food. Some groups want to do their own thing. Others do not want to see the kitchen all weekend.
We can arrange: champagne afternoon tea, breakfasts, welcome drinks & canapés, relaxed buffets, brunches, family-style dinners, formal meals, barbecues, late-night food.
We have a commercial kitchen and a second kitchen, which is particularly useful when we are looking after groups with different dietary requirements.
Corporate retreats work particularly well here. This is an area we love.
The Manor gives a team somewhere to actually spend time together without feeling as though they have been sent to a conference hotel.
You can meet in the Pavilion in the morning, use the other rooms for smaller conversations and breakout sessions, have lunch without leaving the building, do something completely different together in the afternoon, sit down for dinner and finish the evening in your own pub.
Nobody needs a taxi back to another hotel. Nobody disappears because their room is in a different building. And the person organising the retreat does not have to coordinate five different venues.
If you want some proper Scottish character while you are here, we can build that into the stay too.
Whisky tasting, Highland games, a piper, ceilidh dancing, Scottish history, falconry, axe throwing, clay shooting, distillery visits, castles, private dinners and plenty more can all be arranged around your group.
Or you can ignore all of that, order some good food, open the bar and enjoy having the place to yourselves.
Coming from overseas? This is where we can be particularly useful.
We host a lot of international groups and understand that organising Scotland from another country can become complicated very quickly.
Where should everyone fly into? How do you move 25 people from the airport? Which distillery is actually worth visiting? Can you fit a castle and Highland Games into the same day? Where do you find a piper? What happens when three people change flights at the last minute?
This is normal territory for us.
We know the local suppliers, caterers, drivers, entertainers, guides and activity providers. We can arrange airport transfers, transport during your stay, excursions, meals and activities, and help build the whole itinerary around what your group actually wants to do.
You can use us as much or as little as you like.
Some groups arrive with every minute already planned. Others arrive with little more than the flights booked and a rough idea that they would like to drink whisky and see a castle.
Both are fine.
The atmosphere....
McArthur Manor is a Georgian manor house, but we do not run it like a museum.
It is handsome and slightly grand when you first arrive, but the atmosphere is deliberately relaxed. Put your feet up. Have a pint in the pub. Start a pool tournament. Sit around the dining table until midnight. Turn the Pavilion into a meeting room, casino, ceilidh hall or cinema.
The house is at its best when it is full of people actually using it.
There are enough different rooms for 20 or 30 people to be together without everyone having to sit on top of each other. Someone can be playing pool, somebody else can be having a quiet drink in the lounge, another group can be outside and the rest can be getting ready for dinner.
That matters on a multi-day stay.
A word about the grounds....
We are not going to pretend McArthur Manor sits in the middle of a 500-acre private estate. It doesn't.
There is a private garden, courtyard and terrace, and plenty of outdoor space for games and activities, but the real strength of the property is the Manor itself and just how much can happen under one roof.
You are also in Blairgowrie, so you are not stranded in the middle of nowhere. Shops and everyday essentials are within a ten-minute walk, while Perthshire, the Highlands, distilleries, castles and some very good days out are within easy reach.
For international groups in particular, that balance works extremely well.
Tell us what you are trying to organise....
Corporate retreat, family gathering, international trip, milestone birthday, wedding group, hen weekend, stag group or something we haven't thought of yet — the label matters less to us than whether the Manor suits what you are trying to create.
Tell us who is coming and what sort of stay you have in mind.
We can give you the house and leave you to enjoy it, or we can help plan the food, drinks, transport, activities and itinerary from beginning to end.
The Manor is yours. We are here to make using it easy.
Why it works for groups
“Most big houses give you the keys and leave you to it. Book ours and you get us too. We’re Nicholas & Cynthia, the owners, hosts and local fixers. Food, transport, pipers, castles, whisky or a completely daft idea? We’ll help make it happen.”
