Organising a hen weekend around venues means organising it around other people's constraints — minimum spends, table times, dress codes, and the twenty minutes it takes to move a large group anywhere.GoHen's 2025-26 industry report puts the average UK hen do at around £203 per person for two nights with activities included, and a typical group at fourteen people. Fourteen is precisely the size where restaurants start saying no and taxi logistics start eating the evening.

Booking the activities into the house inverts that. The group stays together, the cost is visible up front rather than accumulating across a night out, and the people who want an early night can have one without a group negotiation. It is also why the same activities keep reappearing in our bookings: they work in a living room.

Timing matters more than the specific choice. Our own booking records show 56% of hen bookings landing between January and May, which means the majority of hen weekends are being planned for dates when the weather cannot be relied on. An activity that needs a garden is a gamble; one that works around a kitchen table is not.

The most common mistake is booking three activities for one Saturday. Two is almost always the right number for a two-night hen weekend: one on Saturday afternoon and one that carries the evening. Anything more and the group spends the weekend being moved between things rather than talking to each other.

A workable shape: arrive Friday and do nothing organised at all beyond food. Saturday afternoon, something participatory — a cocktail masterclass or life drawing. Saturday evening, a private chef so nobody is cooking for fourteen. Sunday, a bottomless brunch before checkout.
