Model Farm is a Victorian country house built onto a 17th-century Somerset farmhouse, eight minutes from Bridgwater and set in four acres of its own gardens. The whole house is yours — 11 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, two kitchens, two lounges and a games room, with room for everyone to be together and room to disappear when you need to. The Victorian front of the house keeps its original features: 12ft moulded ceilings, marble fireplaces, wooden floors and deep bay windows. The main lounge and dining room are furnished to match, and the dining room seats a large group across three or four tables. A games room with pool table, table football and drink-making facilities leads off the entrance hall, and the thick Victorian walls mean this end of the house is the right place if the group wants music later on. At the rear, the old farmhouse and cider barn bring exposed beams and slate floors. A 55sqm orangery runs off the main kitchen and works as a banqueting room, dance floor, yoga space or training room, with a 75" TV and sound system. The kitchen next to it is built for catering for 20-plus. A second kitchen sits in the cider barn at the end of the corridor, with a covered loggia and large gas BBQ just outside, and a rustic bedroom above. Outside there is a log-fired Scandinavian hot tub seating eight, a 10 person log-fired sauna, a 20-metre natural swimming pond with its own patio, an outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, garden games, plenty of seating and four acres of gardens to spread out into. Using the orangery and dining room together, Model Farm can seat over 40 for dinner. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Up to 11 bedrooms, all double or family rooms. Many beds convert between a large double and two singles, and some family rooms take additional beds, so the configuration flexes to the group. Victorian first floor — three bedrooms, all en-suite, south-facing over the gardens. Two large doubles and one large family room. Old farmhouse first floor — three bedrooms (two family, one double) with four bathrooms. Ground floor — three bedrooms with three bathrooms, wheelchair accessible, plus a second lounge and second kitchen. Cider barn — one rustic bedroom above the barn kitchen. WHY IT WORKS FOR GROUPS Two separate kitchens and two lounges mean a group of 25 is not queuing for one worktop or sharing one sofa. The orangery seats the whole party for dinner, and the Victorian rooms are far enough from the bedrooms to keep an evening going without waking anyone. Ground-floor bedrooms and an accessible shower room mean grandparents and wheelchair users are not an afterthought. Owners live on site, so anything that needs sorting gets sorted quickly. NEARBY Bridgwater is eight minutes by car. Cannington village, with its church, walled garden, shops and pubs, is walkable. The Quantock Hills, the Somerset coast, Taunton, Glastonbury and Wells are all within easy reach, and footpaths lead straight off the property. Please note: no stag parties.
