The house
About White Moss
White Moss is the second house on The Terrace, a Grade II listed row designed by Augustus Pugin, next door to Number One. It sleeps 12 across five bedrooms and is the smallest of the five Terrace houses. Windermere station and the village are a couple of minutes' walk away, downhill.
The lounge seats 14 on large leather Chesterfield sofas, with a wood-burning stove and a large Smart TV. The dining room has an oak table for 12, its own wood-burning stove and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker. The handmade kitchen has pine units, marble worktops, a vintage 2-oven AGA and a Belling gas range cooker with 2 fan ovens, plus a full-size dishwasher, microwave and small breakfast table. The utility room has an American fridge freezer with ice maker.
Down in the cellar there's a 12-seat cinema with a 75-inch Smart TV and soundbar. The washing machine and tumble dryer are down there too.
BEDROOMS - Bedroom 1 (first floor): king-size four-poster - Bedroom 2 (first floor): single - Bedroom 3 (first floor): king-size - Bedroom 4 (first floor): 3 singles - Bedroom 5 (second floor): 4 singles, with a roof light
BATHROOMS On the first floor there's a bathroom with shower over bath and a separate shower room. On the second floor, a bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath. There's also a toilet downstairs.
OUTSIDE The 7-seat hot tub is in the rear courtyard, along with outdoor furniture and a charcoal barbecue (April to October). Parking for up to 6 cars, and an EV charger shared with Number One.
GOOD TO KNOW - Logs for both wood-burners supplied October to April - Up to 4 dogs welcome, £30 each - 2 travel cots and 2 high chairs - Check-in 4pm, check-out 10am. Monday and Friday starts - No ground-floor bedroom, 4 steps up to the front door and stairs throughout, so it isn't suitable for wheelchair users - Bigger group? White Moss and Number One next door sleep 26 and can dine together for up to 22. All five houses on The Terrace sleep 71
The Orrest Head walk starts across the road. It's about 20 minutes to the top, and it's the walk that inspired Alfred Wainwright.
