Mr & Mrs Questions: 80 Questions for Hen Parties and Couples

Group Escape Houses Team20 Oct 20267 min read

Mr & Mrs is the hen party game that actually works. It doesn’t need props, apps or anyone to be sober enough to keep score on a spreadsheet. One person reads questions, the bride answers, and everyone else drinks every time she gets one wrong. The game runs itself.

The hard part is the questions. Too bland and it’s boring. Too explicit and half the group stops making eye contact. The trick is building from easy (their first date, his worst habit) to cheeky (what he really thinks about her cooking) with enough specificity that the answers are genuinely surprising rather than predictable.

Below are 80 questions sorted by round. Pick 15 to 25 for your game, starting with the warm-up and finishing with the cheeky round. If you’re playing at an engagement party with both partners in the room, the same questions work but the format changes: one partner wears headphones while the other answers, then they swap.

Round 1: The easy warm-up

Start here. These are questions the bride should get right, and they settle the group into the game before anything embarrassing happens.

  1. Where did you go on your first date?
  2. What was the first thing he said to you?
  3. What did he wear on your first date?
  4. Who said “I love you” first?
  5. What is his middle name?
  6. What is his go-to takeaway order?
  7. What side of the bed does he sleep on?
  8. What song would he say is “their song”?
  9. What is his most-watched film?
  10. What would he grab first in a house fire (after people and pets)?
  11. What is his biggest fear?
  12. What was his first job?
  13. How does he take his tea or coffee?
  14. What is his party trick?
  15. What would he eat for his last meal?

Round 2: The relationship

These dig a bit deeper. The bride might hesitate on a few, which is where the fun starts.

  1. What is the most romantic thing he’s ever done for you?
  2. What habit of yours does he find most annoying?
  3. What habit of his do you find most annoying?
  4. What was your biggest argument about?
  5. Who is the better cook?
  6. Who apologises first after an argument?
  7. What would he say is your best quality?
  8. What would you say is his best quality?
  9. Where would he take you on a dream holiday?
  10. What is the most embarrassing thing that’s happened on a date?
  11. What did he think of you the very first time he saw you?
  12. Who is the messy one?
  13. What does he do that makes you laugh the most?
  14. What is the longest you’ve gone without speaking to each other?
  15. If he could change one thing about you, what would it be?

Round 3: Favourites and opinions

These test how well she really knows his preferences. Expect a few wrong answers here.

  1. What is his dream car?
  2. Who is his celebrity crush?
  3. What is his favourite thing about his own appearance?
  4. What does he spend too much money on?
  5. What would he do with a surprise day off?
  6. If he could have any job in the world, what would it be?
  7. What is his guilty pleasure TV show?
  8. What is the one item of clothing you wish he’d throw away?
  9. What would he say his best feature is?
  10. Who does he think is the funny one in the relationship?
  11. What is his most-used emoji?
  12. If he could live anywhere in the world, where?
  13. What is the most useless thing he owns?
  14. What’s his shower routine: quick rinse or full spa session?
  15. What is his karaoke song?

Round 4: The future

Wedding and life questions. These work especially well at engagement parties.

  1. Where will you be in ten years?
  2. How many children does he want?
  3. What was he most nervous about regarding the proposal?
  4. What part of the wedding is he most looking forward to?
  5. What part of the wedding is he dreading?
  6. Will he cry during the ceremony?
  7. What song will you have for your first dance?
  8. Where does he want to go on the honeymoon?
  9. Who will be in charge of the finances?
  10. Will he keep his stag do stories secret?
  11. What does he think is the secret to a happy marriage?
  12. What name has he suggested for a future pet?
  13. What is the one household rule he’ll insist on?
  14. If you could only take one photo on your wedding day, what would it be of?
  15. Who will wear the trousers?

Round 5: The cheeky round

Save these for last, after a few drinks. They’re meant to make the bride blush, not to ruin anyone’s evening. Read the room.

  1. Who initiated the first kiss?
  2. What is his most annoying bedroom habit (snoring counts)?
  3. What is the weirdest place you’ve kissed?
  4. What would he rate himself out of ten?
  5. What would you rate him out of ten?
  6. What is his secret talent that nobody else knows about?
  7. What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve caught him doing?
  8. Has he ever accidentally called you the wrong name?
  9. What’s his worst fashion moment?
  10. What is his go-to excuse to get out of plans?
  11. Who is the bigger flirt?
  12. What would he say is his most attractive quality?
  13. If he could swap lives with one of your friends for a day, who?
  14. What is the naughtiest thing he’s ever texted you?
  15. What does he really think of your best friend?
  16. What is the most ridiculous lie he’s ever told you?
  17. What would he never admit in front of his mates?
  18. How long does he actually spend getting ready?
  19. What is his guilty search history category?
  20. If a film were made about your relationship, what would it be called?

How to play Mr & Mrs at a hen party

Before the hen do: Send the groom the questions you’ve picked (15 to 25 is plenty) and ask him to write or record his answers. Voice recordings are better because the group gets to hear him, which always gets a reaction. Give him a deadline at least a week before the party so you’re not chasing the night before.

On the night: One person reads each question aloud, the bride gives her answer, then you reveal what he said. If her answer matches, she scores a point. If it doesn’t, she takes a forfeit. The classic forfeit is a drink, but you can do a dare, a dance or whatever suits the group. Keep score on a whiteboard or a big piece of paper so everyone can see.

Timing: The game takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on how much commentary each answer provokes. Play it after dinner and before going out, or as the main activity if your hen weekend is more of a house party than a night on the town.

Tips for better questions

Ask the groom’s friends. They’ll know the stories and habits the bride might not, and you can frame questions around specific incidents: “What happened at Tom’s stag do?” works better than “Tell us something funny.”

Personalise at least a third of them. Generic questions from the internet are fine as a starting point, but the best games include a few that only make sense for this couple. Use the list above as a base and swap in specifics.

Build the difficulty. Start with questions she’ll definitely get right, so she feels confident. Then increase the stakes. The cheeky round hits harder if she’s been breezing through everything and suddenly gets caught out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play Mr and Mrs?

The groom answers a set of questions about himself and the couple before the hen party. At the party, the bride answers the same questions in front of the group. Every time her answer matches his, she scores a point. Every time it doesn't match, there's usually a forfeit — a sip of a drink is the classic.

How many Mr and Mrs questions do you need?

Between 15 and 25 is the sweet spot. Fewer than 15 and the game is over before it gets going. More than 25 and attention drifts, especially after a few drinks. Pick a mix of easy, medium and cheeky questions so the difficulty builds.

What are good Mr and Mrs questions for a hen party?

The best ones are specific enough to catch the bride out but not so personal that they make her uncomfortable. Questions about first dates, habits, and what the groom said about her work better than anything too explicit. The cheeky round at the end should be funny, not mortifying.

Can you play Mr and Mrs at an engagement party?

Yes. At an engagement party both partners are usually in the room, so you can play it live: one partner wears headphones or leaves the room while the other answers, then they swap. It works well as an icebreaker because it doesn't need teams or equipment.

Where did Mr and Mrs come from?

The hen party game follows the television quiz format: each partner answers questions about the other, and the answers are compared. Choose questions that suit the couple and agree any forfeits in advance.
