About This Experience

A pottery painting workshop at your house: each guest decorates a mug, plate or dish with ceramic paints, guided by an art tutor.

Pottery painting is a calm, sit-down activity that sets up easily on the dining table of a rented house. The tutor brings blank ceramics, paints, brushes, stencils and table covers, and shows the group simple techniques for layering colour and adding detail. Depending on the host, pieces either go home with you the same day or are collected for firing and returned afterwards.

Perfect for Group Celebrations and Corporate Retreats

It suits baby showers, hen parties, birthdays and family groups, and it is one of the few experiences children and grandparents can enjoy side by side. Many hen groups paint a plate for the bride with a message from each guest. No artistic skill is needed, and the finished pieces are useful rather than something to hide in a cupboard.

Why Add This Experience to Your Group Stay?

A painting session fills a Saturday morning or a rainy afternoon at the house and pairs well with an afternoon tea or bottomless brunch. It also gives everyone a keepsake from the weekend. Tutors cover most of the UK; for rural houses, travel is shown as its own line on your quote.

Choose accommodation that fits your group, such as a party house, a house with a hot tub, or a country home. Confirm the experience location separately, as some activities take place at a venue rather than at the house.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our pottery painting workshop experience

How much does a pottery painting workshop at our house cost?

Prices are £45 per person for 8 to 12 guests, £42 per person for 13 to 18 guests and £40 per person for 19 to 30 guests. The price includes VAT and our arrangement fee. A 20% deposit secures the booking once the tutor confirms, and the balance is taken before the event, not on the day. If your house is rural, travel is shown as its own line on the quote.

When do we get our pieces?

It depends on the host. Some use ceramic paints that are set at home in an ordinary oven, so pieces go home the same day with instructions. Others collect them to glaze and kiln-fire, then return them, usually within a week or two; postage may be added. We confirm which with your quote.

Can children take part?

Yes. Pottery painting is one of the best experiences for mixed ages. Let us know how many children are coming and their ages.

Will it make a mess?

Very little. The tutor covers the table and brings aprons, and the paints are water-based, so brushes rinse in the sink. Keep drinks away from the paint pots.

How far ahead should we book?

Three to six weeks is usually enough; allow longer for summer weekends.
